Andrew "Andy" Linden ( April 5, 1922 in Brownsville , † February 10, 1987 in Torrance ) was an American racing car driver .

Career

Linden served as a U.S. Marine during World War II . From 1950 to 1957 he drove in 66 races in the AAA / USAC National Series . His best results were four third places in the seasons 1950, 1955 and 1957. In 1955 he achieved his best performance of the season with a fifth place in the overall statement.

In the course of his career he has also competed seven times in the Indianapolis 500 . In 1951 he reached fourth place in a Silnes - Offenhauser and thus his best placement. Since the race was one of the races of the Formula 1 drivers' world championship at that time , he also had seven Grand Prix starts.

In 1957 he had a serious accident and suffered permanent brain damage.
