Aneta Panek

Aneta Panek (born October 5, 1976 in Warsaw ) is a Polish filmmaker and performance artist. She lives and works in Berlin .

Life

Aneta Panek studied art history at the University of Paris IV Sorbonne , where she researched the intermediality of art, the uncanny in the media and the cultural exchange between France , Germany and Poland . She continued her studies at the German Forum for Art History in Paris , where she worked for the interdisciplinary research project “Ownreality” for a while, and at the Berlin University of the Arts , where she is currently doing her doctorate at the Institute for Time-Based Media .

She made numerous films and TV reports, including for RBB , WDR and Deutsche Welle . Her documentary “My Heaven is Full of Music” (2009) was included in the collection of the Yad Vashem Museum in Jerusalem . In 2013 and 2014, together with Clara Pacquet, she organized a film program in the Club of Polish Failures : GEIST & GESPENSTER, a monthly film series that examines the phenomenon of film recording as a spiritual and ghostly process. Another film series by Aneta Panek and Clara Pacquet followed in 2015: LA LOGE NOIRE at the Babylon cinema in Berlin ; a selection of films that examine the magical dimension of cinema and question the nature of cinematic representation. From 2015 Aneta Panek devoted herself to experimental film . Her short film “Tarot Reading” (2015) has been shown at various film festivals around the world, including New York City , Tokyo , Osaka and Berlin . Her experimental film collage “Lullaby for a Witch” (2016) was screened at the List í Ljósi Festival (Art by Light Festival) in Seyðisfjörður , Iceland , and recently at the Nasty Women UK exhibition in London. Her experimental film "Czarymary" (2016) was shown in December 2017 as part of the LGBTQ film night at the Flying Dutchman in London . 2017 Aneta Panek was to artist residence at the Watermill Center of Robert Wilson invited where her latest project, a punk - opera , staged. The piece was later shown in the Nuyorican Poets Café in New York, and then in Berlin , in the former silent film Kino Delphi , where it celebrated its official premiere (11 & 13 May 2018). The punk opera was invited to Venice , where it was presented in the context of an exhibition "Spaces - Surfaces International Art and Architecture Festival" organized by Its Liquid Group in the Palazzo Ca 'Zanardi, parallel to the 16th International Architecture Biennale (September 27th until November 25, 2018). Other artist residencies followed, including an “Artists Lock-In” with Sue Hill from Wild Works, an international, location-based theater company on the island of Jersey .

She is currently working on her doctoral thesis on “Alchemy and Punk. Transmutation , subversion and poetry in the punk avant-garde. ”With Prof. Dr. Siegfried Zielinski , the former rector of the State University of Design Karlsruhe , as scientific supervisor and Alain Fleischer , the head of the University of Film and Media le FRESNOY in Tourcoing , as artistic supervisor. In it she deals with the relationship between poetry and rebellion , punk and alchemy . She is particularly interested in artistic research methods; the need for visualization and associative speculation in the process of formulating theories, as well as the new performative formats of knowledge.
