Angeja is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Albergaria-a-Velha . It is 21.3 km² and has 2073 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
history
The place has been documented since the 12th century. 1514 Angeja city rights (received Foral ) by King Manuel I . Angeja was the seat of an independent circle ( concelho ) until 1855 , and since then has belonged to Albergaria-a-Velha.
On June 20, 1991 , Angeja was elevated to a small town ( Vila ).
