Angela Scoular (born November 8, 1945 in London , England - † April 11, 2011 , ibid) was a British actress .

Life

Career

Angela Scoular is best known for her roles in two James Bond films. She was one of the few actresses to appear in two Bond films under different production companies. She played the role of Buttercup in the 1967 Bond parody Casino Royale and in 1969 in the Eon Productions- produced James Bond 007 - On Her Majesty's Secret Service alongside Bond actor George Lazenby as Ruby Bartlett. In Charles Chaplin's only color film The Countess of Hong Kong , a British comedy film from 1967, she played a society girl alongside Marlon Brando and Sophia Loren . In the British comedy A Stowaway Has It Hard From 1970, she played the role of his girlfriend Ophelia O'Brien alongside her future husband Leslie Phillips . In the following years she had several roles in British television series such as Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone , Gene Bradley on a secret mission or the role of Lady Agatha Shawcross in You Rang, M'Lord? . In the mid-1990s, she said goodbye to the film and television business with two appearances on the television series As Time Goes By .

Private life

Since 1982 she was married to actor Leslie Phillips , a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

In March 2009 she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Angela Scoular died on April 11, 2011 at the age of 65 in London, where it was believed to have committed suicide.
