Aniada a Noar , which means something like everyone is a fool (West Styrian dialect), is a Styrian folk music group. Since 2004, the group has also appeared in an expanded formation under the name polka potent (formerly: Noarn Groove ).

prehistory

The quartet emerged from the formation “Folkfriends”, which originally performed in western Styria with “Western & Country Music ”. In addition to Andreas Safer and Eduard Zwanzer, the first line-up included (from 1981) Rupert (Bertl) Pfundner and Wolfgang (Wuff) Zagar. These two had previously played for "Dingley Dell".

In the second line-up of "Folkfriends", Wolfgang Moitz then replaced Wuff Zagar. He and Safer brought in stronger folk elements. The flute changed the sound of the quartet. Bertl Pfundner: “I played Country & Western for so long that I found it difficult to adjust to something like that.” The new development was now clearly in the direction of Country & Folk music.

In July 1983 the “Folkfriends” met at an event in the “Brücke” in Graz with the brothers Martin Krusche and Michael Krusche, who played their program “Literature, Blues and 'Rock & Roll'” there. At that time Edi Zwanzer tended strongly to leave the formation, and at the following Christmas concert in Rosental, his departure was a done deal. Michael Krusche initially played sporadically and acquired the repertoire. From March 1984 he was a regular member of the "Folkfriends". A concert in the Graz “Kleeblatt” is considered to fix the new line-up. Back then on stage: the musicians Jimmy Cogan and Kurt Keinrath ( Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung ) as well as the cabaret artist Jörg-Martin Willnauer .

In the summer of 1984 the “Folkfriends” and the artist Martin Krusche completed a tour through southern France , during which the quartet strengthened itself further. In May 1985, the group took to the stage at the ORF's “Big Chance” and had an encouraging TV appearance.

history

From 1985/86, according to Andi Safer, the repertoire was two-pronged: traditional music from Austria was added to folk music from other countries. In 1985 the four stood next to Alan Stivell on the stage of the "Folkest" in San Daniele . At the end of 85 it was clear that the "Folkfriends" would be over. The group's concept had changed completely. Andi Safer established the new name “Aniada a Noar”.

“It is folk music , and at the same time with the sudden realization of the bruised people that they have been planted for so long, we are surrounded by the warm feeling of having discovered a new place, a new landscape of our hearts: Austrian folk music without a railroad front mentality, beyond Ö2, from Not to mention more rustic low costumes. "

Meanwhile, 25 Joahr (steir. For years) passed and "Aniada a Noar" celebrated with a gala concert on 5 November 2008 in the same line the Silver Jubilee in Orpheum Graz . In January 2009 the Noarnfülm (director: Heinz Trenczak ) was presented, which documents the history of the Noarns in sound and images ( extra plate , ISBN 978-3-221-95409-3 ).

Expanded by Gabriel Froihofer (drums, member of “Spafudla: Progressive Folk Music”) and Reinhard Ziegerhofer (bass, double bass), the group appears as polka potent .

The feature of the same name by Barbara Belic (published on October 22, 2012) with statements by Andreas Safer and Michael Krusche offers a look back at “30 years of Aniada a Noar”. (A contribution from the Radio Helsinki Musician Portrait 2012 series .) In spring 2013 Michael Krusche left the formation to pursue other projects.

“But 3 is still huge if your name is Aniada a Noar. Violinist Michael Krusche said goodbye in March after 30 years to go solo paths. "

- Gallnsteine culture initiative, December 26, 2013

This was communicated to the audience from the beginning of the year, for example: "... the almost 300 visitors not only got to hear the well-known Noarn sounds and songs, but also the thoughtful, critical songs and texts by Michael Krusche, who will be walking solo in the future." February 2013)

The CD with the title "khult" was then the product of a trio, no longer a quartet, available from June 2013 according to the official website:

"The Styrian cult band is reinventing itself ..."
