Anita Dorris (born December 21, 1903 in Lübeck , † December 24, 1993 in Vienna ) was a German actress .

Life

After a short apprenticeship, the daughter of the print shop owner Ernst Schmidt received an engagement at the Eger City Theater in 1921 , then in Pilsen and Franzensbad . Anita Dorothea Schmidt was engaged in Prague from 1923 to 1925 , where she appeared on stage alongside Paul Hörbiger and other well-known actors of the time.

In 1926 she got her first film role when she played the miller's daughter under her new stage name "Anita Dorris" in Die Mühle von Sanssouci alongside Otto Fee , Olga Chekhova and Jakob Tiedtke . Fifteen other roles in silent films made her a well-known and popular personality in Germany.

In 1929 she worked alongside Rudolf Platte in the very first German sound film, the short film My dream would be a girl . Even in the new sound film era, she received numerous offers. She received her perhaps most important film role in 1930 in the German-Swedish production Mach mir die Welt zum Paradies at the side of Gösta Ekman .

Shortly afterwards, on October 28, 1930, she married the director EW Emo and gave up her film career at his request. On June 8, 1936, their daughter Maria Emo was born, who later also chose the profession of actress. The family had lived in Vienna since 1939, where her husband died in 1975 and she herself at the age of 90. She was buried at the Hietzingen cemetery .
