In the White Rößl is a German silent film Lustspiel based on the original of the same name (1896) by the authors Oskar Blumenthal and Gustav Kadelburg . Liane Haid and Max Hansen will play under the direction of Richard Oswald .

action

The story takes place in picturesque St. Wolfgang in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut . There the landlady Josefa Vogelhuber runs the inn "Zum Weisse Rößl" with an attached hotel. There is a lot going on here in the high season, and a number of sometimes strenuous guests such as the Berlin manufacturer Giesecke with his daughter keep the staff on their toes. Giesecke has just lost a lawsuit and wants to put an end to the dispute by marrying his daughter to the son of the opponent. But Dr. Siedler, the opponent's lawyer, has his own eye on Miss Giesecke. It will take some time before the two young people get together and the opposing parties reconcile.

More turmoil threatens when the pay waiter Leopold, who has long been in love with his initially disinterested boss Josefa, no longer goes about his work with full attention. Events and people keep coming in between the landlady and waiter, at least temporarily, especially since the landlady suddenly became interested in Dr. Settler shows. Now Leopold's jealousy is boiling and he begins to develop bizarre ideas that shake up the entire company. For a happy ending, he too gets his dream woman, the Rößl landlady.

Production notes

Im Weißen Rößl was shot in July 1926 in Berlin's Efa film studio and on location at Lake Wolfgang (exterior shots). The film passed censorship on August 26, 1926. The premiere of the seven-act play released for young people with a length of 2762 meters took place on the following day in Berlin's Gloria-Palast.

The story told here was continued with When I came back that same year .

Heinrich C. Richter designed the film structures.

criticism

Paimann's film lists summed up: “The subject is… quite amusing, even if its wit is mainly in the titles. After overcoming a few dead spots, the direction is pretty quick at the beginning, the presentation is good. "
