Friday the 13th Das eheimliche Haus, Part 2 is a German silent film series thriller "with a humorous twist" from 1916 by Richard Oswald around the master detective Engelbert Fox.
action
It's already a terrible tradition: every Friday the 13th, a member of the von Eulenstein family dies. This time the lord of the castle, Herbert, was found dead in the pavilion of the castle's own garden. Obviously, the murderer carried the old man into the afterlife by means of a high voltage current. Marcell von Eulenstein, son of the murdered man and main heir, instructs the detective Engelbert Fox to investigate the case.
As a result of his investigation, in collaboration with his loyal friend and helper Dagobert Fix, he soon comes across a prime suspect. It's about an ominous scientist named Prof. Cardallhan who seems a bit bizarre and confused. Fox and Fix find out that Cardallhan is in fact related to the Eulensteins and, as required by Adel, intended to kill one relative after the other in order to finally acquire the inheritance themselves.
Production notes
The five-act film with a length of 1470 meters passed the film censorship in October 1916 and was shown for the first time on November 10, 1916. On September 29, 1921 there was a new censorship with a pronounced youth ban.
With this series product, Oswald took part in one of the detective film series that was so popular during the First World War . The buildings were designed by Manfred Noa and implemented by Alfred Dahlheim.
criticism
