Anja Knippel

Anja Knippel (born August 19, 1974 in Schmalkalden ) is a former German athlete . She received three international medals during her career as the fifth runner in the 4-by-400-meter relay after being used in the preliminary run.

Knippel moved from Schmalkalden to Erfurt in 1996 and started working for Erfurt athletics clubs throughout her career. In the 400-meter run she was third at the German Championships in 1998, in the hall she was runner-up in 1998 behind Grit Breuer and third in 1997 and 1997. From 2002 onwards, Knippel mostly started in the 800-meter run . In the hall she came third in 2002 and won the German championship title in 2003, outdoors she took third place in 2002 and 2003 and won the title in 2004.

Knippel had her first major international appearance at the 1997 World Indoor Championships in Paris - Bercy . She ran as the starting runner of the 4 x 400 meter relay and reached the finals together with Anke Feller , Heike Meißner and Anja Rücker . In the final, Anja Rücker ran from the starting position and Grit Breuer came in as the last runner. After the relay won bronze behind the relay from Russia and the USA, Anja Knippel also received a bronze medal. Also at the European Championships in Budapest in 1998 Knippel competed in the preliminary stages. Together with Anke Feller, Martina Breu and Silvia Rieger , the relay qualified for the final. There Anke Feller, Uta Rohländer , Silvia Rieger and Grit Breuer won the title, the two runners Breu and Knippel, who were used in the preliminary run, also received a gold medal. At the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi in 1999 there were no preliminary runs for the relay. The German relay with Anja Knippel, Anja Rücker, Ulrike Urbansky and Grit Breuer took fourth place in the final behind Russia, Australia and the USA. In the summer of 1999 at the World Championships in Seville , the relay qualified for the final with Anke Feller, Uta Rohländer, Anja Knippel and Anja Rücker. In the final, Grit Breuer ran again for Anja Knippel, the relay won bronze and Anja Knippel also received the bronze medal at the award ceremony.

Her competition weight was 57 kg with a height of 1.66 m.
