Anna Christmann
Anna Christmann (born September 24, 1983 in Hanover ) is a German politician of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party and political scientist . Christmann has been a member of the 19th German Bundestag since 2017 and moved in via the green state list of Baden-Württemberg.
Life
Education and career
Anna Christmann was born in Hanover in 1983. After graduating from high school, Christmann moved to Heidelberg in 2002. There she studied political science, economics and mathematics at the university , graduating in 2008 with a master's degree. During her studies, she worked, among other things, as an electoral district employee for Theresia Bauer , a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament.
In 2008 Christmann received his doctorate from the University of Bern on the subject of “The Limits of Direct Democracy”. As part of her doctorate, she also spent a semester abroad at the University of California at Irvine . She then briefly worked at the Center for Democracy at the University of Zurich .
In 2013 Christmann returned to Stuttgart and began to work there in the Ministry of Science , including as office manager for State Minister of Science Theresia Bauer.
Political commitment
Anna Christmann says she has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2003 . During her college days, she was committed to the local university group and was a member of the Heidelberg district committee.
She is also a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
MPs
In 2016 Christmann ran for a possible candidate for the 2017 federal election. The Stuttgart district association nominated Christmann as a candidate for the Stuttgart II federal constituency alongside Cem Özdemir (for constituency I) . The state party conference of the Baden-Württemberg Greens voted Christmann eleventh on the state list in November 2016. During the election campaign, Christmann campaigned for more political participation (referendums), housing and environmental protection. The SWR referred to them as belonging to the " Realo wing".
In the 2017 federal election, the Greens in Baden-Württemberg achieved 13.4 percent (and thus 2.5 percent more than in 2013). Christmann moved into the Bundestag as the eleventh of 13 elected candidates on the state list.
For the parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , she is the spokesperson for civic engagement as well as innovation and technology policy . She is a full member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment , the Digital Agenda Committee , the Subcommittee on Civic Engagement , Chairwoman of the Study Commission Artificial Intelligence and a deputy member of the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth . Christmann is also the chairman of the Artificial Intelligence Study Commission .
Anna Christmann has been a member of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly since 2019 .
Private
Christmann is married and lives with her husband and two children in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen .
