Anna Wiktorowna Vyachirewa ( Russian Анна Викторовна Вяхирева ; English spelling Anna Vyakhireva ; born March 13, 1995 in Volgograd ) is a Russian handball player .

Career

Vyachirewa was born in Volgograd, but her family moved to Tolyatti a short time later . When Vyachirewa was about six years old, she started playing handball. Initially she was trained by her father, who re-educated her to be left-handed in order to increase her athletic prospects.

Vyachirewa was under contract with the Russian first division club Zvezda Zvenigorod from 2011 . With Zvezda Zvenigorod, she took part in the 2011/12 European Cup Winners' Cup and the 2012/13 EHF Champions League . In 2014 she won the Russian Cup with Zvezda. She then moved to league rivals GK Astrachanotschka . With Astrakhanochka, she won the Russian championship in 2016. For the 2016/17 season she moved to the Russian first division club GK Rostov-on-Don . With Rostov she won the EHF Cup in 2017 and the Russian championship in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Vyachireva has been a member of the Russian national team since 2013 . The Russian also ran for the Russian youth national team, with which she won the U-19 European Championship in 2013 . In addition, she was elected MVP of the tournament. Two years earlier she won the U-17 European Championship with Russia . At the U20 World Cup in 2014, she was elected to the Allstar team. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she won the gold medal and was elected MVP. She won the silver medal at the 2018 European Championships . Vyachirewa scored a total of 43 goals in the course of the tournament and was awarded the MVP title. At the 2019 World Cup , she won the bronze medal with the Russian selection. Vyachirewa scored 45 hits, prepared 62 hits and was elected to the All-Star team.

Private

Her older sister Polina Kuznetsova also plays handball.
