The Annentag (also St. Anne ) is July 26 . On the day commemorating Catholics of St. Anne , mother of Mary . St. Anna is u. a. the patron saint of wives , miners , boatmen and the protector of the poor and against the dangers of thunderstorms . It's the name day for Anna .

Events

Annentag is celebrated in various cities partly as a purely church festival, partly (e.g. in Franconia and Westphalia ) as a folk festival.

  • An Anna festival takes place every year in Düren and is also called Anna fair there .
  • Forchheim's Annafest attracts half a million visitors every year.
  • Similarly, in East Westphalia Brakel of Annentag with a carnival celebration.
  • As a purely religious festival, the Annafest is celebrated in the Baden-Württemberg town of Fridingen on the Danube . After the Anna chapel in Fridingen was closed in 1818, the citizens were allowed to celebrate the Anna festival again in 1869. Since then, the people of Fridingen have been celebrating Anna's festival with a solemn service, a sacrament procession and, since 1958, with a procession of lights .
  • In Staufen im Breisgau , Anna is the patroness of the city. Their festival is celebrated on the last Sunday of July with a Eucharistic celebration in the market square followed by a procession through the city. A folk festival, which is organized ecumenically , follows.
  • Every year on July 26th the St. Anna Festival takes place in Sauerlach , a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Munich . Petitioners from Sauerlach and the surrounding area meet at the St. Anna forest chapel in Staucharting for a field mass followed by a horse blessing.
