Annette Unger

Annette Unger , née Börner, (born May 28, 1962 in Dresden ) is a German violinist and university professor.

Live and act

Annette Unger was born as the daughter of the flutist and university teacher Ruth Börner (1936–2017) and the composer, cantor and conductor Hans Börner and began playing the violin at the age of six. After attending the Dresden Special School for Music, she studied violin and chamber music with Karl Unger (member of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden ) at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music . After graduating, she was given a teaching position there and became professor for violin in 1992.

Unger gives concerts as a soloist and chamber music partner in Europe, Japan and Korea and has worked with the Staatskapelle St. Petersburg, the Dresden Kapellsolisten , the Landesbühnen Sachsen , the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen , the orchestra of the Lüneburg Theater with conductors such as Ekkehard Klemm and Helmut Branny , Klaus Zoephel , Urs Theus and Hans Börner. She has also made guest appearances at festivals such as the Dresden Music Festival , the Dreiklang Festival , Central Europe and the Mozart Festival in Würzburg and the Schubertiaden Schnackenburg .

She has been a member of the Dresdner Kapellsolisten since 1994 and, together with this ensemble, was a winner of the ECHO Klassik 2010.

In addition to teaching in Dresden, Unger regularly holds master classes in Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland and the USA. In 1999 she founded the Internationale Musikakademie Meißen eV to promote young artists

She also worked as a juror in international competitions such as the Queen Sophie Charlotte Competition at the Festival of the Arts in Mirow, Live Music Now , the Anton Rubinstein Competition in Dresden, and the Max Bruch Competition in Cologne. Since 2008 she has been artistic director and jury chairwoman at the international competition "Szymon Goldberg" for violin and viola Meißen.

From 1989 to 2019 she was married to Karl Unger (†).
