Anny von Orelli (born March 16, 1890 in Thun , † November 28, 1968 in Rostock ) was a Swiss - German actress .

Life

Born in Switzerland, Anny von Orelli began her stage career as a student of Josef Kainz before the First World War . After further acting lessons with Gustav Vrober in Wiesbaden , she then played on stages in Heidelberg , Hamburg , Leipzig , Meiningen , Basel ( Switzerland ), Freiburg im Breisgau and again in Meiningen.

When the National Socialists seized power in Germany , she emigrated in 1934 with her husband Josef van Santen , whom she married in 1929, and their daughter via Switzerland to southern Spain . Before the start of the Spanish Civil War , she returned to Germany with her family in 1936.

After the Second World War , theaters in Altenburg and Halle (Saale) were her next stops, until she was finally brought to the Theater of Friendship in Berlin by Josef Stauder . Occasionally she also appeared at the German State Opera . She finished her stage career at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin.

The daughter Christine van Santen was also a well-known actress and married to the director and manager Hanns Anselm Perten .
