Christine van Santen (born September 26, 1931 in Bochum , † April 10, 1984 in Rostock ) was a German actress .

Life

Christine van Santen was born with the maiden name Christine Süßmaier as the daughter of the actors and actresses Josef van Santen and Anny von Orelli . After the drama school in Magdeburg, she had her first engagement at the Landestheater Altenburg. In the stage season 1953/1954 she applied to the Volkstheater Rostock and very quickly became the friend of the artistic director Hanns Anselm Perten , on October 19, 1954 the two married. In the theater she exercised secret power. Only in the period from 1970 to 1972, when her husband was appointed director of the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and she also played there, did she have to give up her special role. After returning to Rostock together, she knew again about her position of power as the artistic director's wife, and she also knew that she had long since become her own authority.
