Barbara Noack (born September 28, 1924 in Berlin ) is a German writer .

Life

Barbara Noack put 1943 the matriculation examination , and then began a study of English literature . In 1944, she had to drop out of studies after just one semester because she was obliged to work in a munitions factory . After the end of the Second World War , she studied for two semesters at an art school in Berlin . She then worked as an illustrator and journalist for the feature pages of various Berlin newspapers; in addition, she began to write entertainment novels.

Already Noack's second novel The Zurich engagement was in 1955 a great success with the public and was in 1957 by Helmut Käutner filmed . Her novel Italy Travel - Love Included , which came into the cinemas as Italy Travel - Love Included, was also made into a film. With her subsequent books, Noack regularly achieved bestsellers well into the 1980s . In addition to conventional love stories for a female reading audience, she also described her experiences as a single mother with her growing son and her own life story in the autobiographical novels A Handful of Happiness and A Piece of Life in later works .

Another facet of her work is shown by the television series Der Bastian , which was very successful in the 1970s , and for which the author wrote the script that she later turned into a novel; more television scripts followed.

Barbara Noack is a member of the German PEN Center . She lives in Berg on Lake Starnberg .
