Antonio Sousa Lara

António Costa de Albuquerque de Sousa Lara (born April 13, 1952 in São Sebastião da Pedreira , Lisbon , Portugal ) is a Portuguese politician, professor and professor at the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas ISCSPU of the Technical University of Lisbon . He teaches modern colonial history, decolonization, political science, political doctrines and ideologies. Sousa Lara is a member of the Partido Social Democrata (PSD).

Career

In 1973 Sousa Lara started teaching at ISCSPU. In 1987 he received his doctorate and was promoted to assistant professor. In 1992 he became an associate professor and then received a full professorship at the Universidade Lusíada in the course "International Relations" in the subject "History of Political Ideas". This was followed by a position as professor of political science, director of the European studies department and vice- rector at the Universidade Moderna . On May 31, 2000 Sousa Lara became professor again at ISCSPU. He was elected Vice President and then President of the Scientific Council of the ISCSP and Senator of the Senate of the Technical University of Lisbon, and was re-elected in 2007.

From 1980 to 1982 Sosua Lara was a councilor in Cascais and from 1983 to 1985 a member of the Lisbon City Council.

Sousa Lara entered the Portuguese parliament three times as a member of the PSD for the constituency of Lisbon, for the first time after the 1980 election in the second legislative period of parliament since the 1974 Carnation Revolution . Sousa Lara stayed until the new election in 1983 . After the 1987 election , Sousa Lara returned to parliament on August 13th and stayed after the 1991 election (fifth and sixth legislative periods). Sousa Lara Chairman of the East Timor Parliamentary Commission, which planned a visit to the Indonesian- occupied East Timor in 1991 . However, on November 12, 1991, the Santa Cruz massacre occurred .

From 1991 to 1992 Sousa Lara was Undersecretary of State for Culture in the XI. constitutional government .

Sousa Lara held a number of additional offices. For example, he was ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Cape Verde and Honorary Consul of Lesotho in Lisbon.
