Anthony Browne

Anthony Browne (born September 11, 1946 in Sheffield ) is a British illustrator and picture book author. He was named Children's Laureate 2009-2011.

Life

Browne attended art school in Leeds and then worked as an anatomical draftsman. In 1976 he published his first book. In 2000, Browne won the Hans Christian Andersen Award , the highest and most prestigious international award for children's book authors and illustrators. He illustrated texts by Ian McEwan , Sally Grindley and Janni Howker .

Browne lives in Kent with his wife .
