Anthony E. Spencer II (* 23. January 1984 in Fort Wayne , Indiana ) is a former American American Footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Dallas Cowboys and for the New Orleans Saints as a linebacker . In 2012 he was elected to the Pro Bowl .

college

Spencer attended Purdue University and played for their team, the Boilermakers, as a successful defensive end college football , for which he also received several awards, such as his team's MVP in 2006.

NFL

In the NFL Draft 2007 he was selected in the 1st round as a total of 26th by the Dallas Cowboys and converted to linebacker . In his rookie season he was used in every game. From 2009 to 2012 he was a starter . In 2013 he suffered a knee injury in the first game and was out for the rest of the season. In the fourth game in 2014 he celebrated his comeback, steadily improved and showed his best performances in the play-offs .

New Orleans Saints

On April 10, 2015, Spencer signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints . He was released on October 20th.
