Arian Isa Foster (born on 24. August 1986 in Albuquerque , New Mexico ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played college football at the University of Tennessee and was signed to the Houston Texans in 2009 as an undrafted free agent . He established himself as one of the best running backs of the National Football League (NFL) at the time and set several franchise records for the Texans. Most recently he played for the Miami Dolphins . On October 25, 2016, he announced his resignation.

Early years

Arian grew up as the son of Carl Foster and Bernadette Aquillera in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His father played college football for the University of New Mexico but missed the jump into the NFL. To his displeasure, his wife, Arian, started playing football when he was seven. After his parents' divorce, he moved with his father to San Diego in 1999, where he first played as a linebacker and then as a running back for Mission Bay High School . His high school career earned him a total of 2,500 yards of room gain and 24 touchdowns out of the game, and six return touchdowns in his senior year . In addition to football, he was also active in athletics and practiced sprint disciplines and high jump .

After finishing school, he attended the University of Tennessee , where he initially suspended the 2004 season due to the high level of competition in his position. In 2005 he became a regular player and ran in eleven games for 979 yards and seven touchdowns. The next year he struggled with injuries that reduced his effectiveness, but in 2007 he broke the 1,000-yard mark by running for 1,193 yards and twelve touchdowns on 245 attempts. At this point he was considered a potential second-round pick , but his then head coach Phillip Fulmer was able to convince him to play college football for another year , which he later regretted very much. In his senior season, Foster fell victim to a new offensive tactic with which the coaches wanted to involve the other running backs more. Fulmer also cited Foster's alleged injuries as a reason for his reduced working hours. Thus, Foster only achieved 849 yards of space and five touchdowns in his senior season at college, making him only rated as a fifth or six-round pick for the upcoming draft.

NFL

Houston Texans

Foster was unexpectedly selected by none of the 32 NFL teams in the NFL Draft 2009 and thus took the Houston Texans on May 1, 2009 as a free agent under contract. Before the beginning of the regular season , he was released and signed up for the Practice Squad . On November 17, he was still included in the active squad and made his NFL debut in the Special Teams on November 23, 2009 against the Tennessee Titans . He scored his first NFL touchdown against the Miami Dolphins on December 27, 2009 after a 17-yard run. His first appearance as a starter came on January 3, 2010, when he ran against the New England Patriots for 119 yards and two touchdowns.

On Matchday 1 of the 2010 season, Foster replaced Steve Slaton , the previous season's starting player, and broke franchise records as he ran against the Indianapolis Colts on 33 attempts for 231 yards and three touchdowns. This game was the prelude to a season in which Foster ran the most yards of all NFL running backs and secured the "Rushing Title" with 1,616 yards. In addition, he caught passes for 604 yards, breaking Priest Holmes ' record for the most space gained by an undrafted player in a season.

In 2011 Foster initially struggled with injuries and missed three games. In 13 games he still ran over 1000 yards and was re-elected to the Pro Bowl. In particular, his skills in passing made him difficult to calculate for the opponent and he also gained 607 yards of space after passing catches.

On March 5, 2012, he signed a five-year contract for 43.5 million with the Texans dollars . On October 8, he reached against the New York Jets in his 40th game, the 5000-yard space gain mark by passing and running game, which only Edgerrin James (36 games) and Eric Dickerson (39 games) managed faster. He was nominated for his third Pro Bowl and led the NFL in running attempts (351) and run touchdowns (15).

In 2013 he missed half of the season due to injuries and eventually underwent a back operation. In his bets he came to 542 run yards and two touchdowns.

He made a strong comeback in 2014 , running for 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns, earning him his fourth Pro Bowl appearance.

In the 2015 season , he initially missed the first season games with a groin injury , and finally tore the seventh game against the Miami Dolphins , the Achilles tendon , which finished the season prematurely for him.

After seven years with the Texans, Foster was released on March 3, 2016.
