Steve Slaton (born July 12, 1980 in Elyria , Ohio ) is an American - German ice hockey player . He is six feet tall and at home in the defensive position. Slaton has been under contract with EC Bad Nauheim since January 2017 .

Player career

Slaton played in the highest junior league in the United States, the United States Hockey League , before he began studying at Princeton University in 2000 and played for the college's ice hockey team. In his fourth and final season with the "Tigers" (2003/04) he led the team as captain.

After graduating from university Slaton hit a professional career and played in the East Coast Hockey League for four different teams before moving to Germany before the 2006/07 season. He signed up with the German second division club ESV Kaufbeuren and after a year moved to Lower Saxony, more precisely to the third division club Hannover Indians . Due to a knee injury, he had to take a long break and only returned to the ice in the championship round of the following season (2008/09).

Before the 2009/10 season, Slaton was signed by the Bremerhaven club Fischtown Pinguins . Since then, the German-American has been a fixture in the second division team, with whom he won the DEL2 championship in 2014 . Slaton made the leap into the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) with the Bremerhaveners for 2016/17 .

In January 2017 Slaton moved to the second division club EC Bad Nauheim .

Achievements and Awards

In his senior season at Princeton University (2003/04) he was awarded the Richard F. Vaughan Cup, which is awarded to the player who has made a name for himself for the Princeton ice hockey team through particular "perseverance and dedication". In addition, he also received the 1941 Championship Trophy in the same year as an award for the player who best reflects the profit-making pursuit of the championship team of 1941 and in this way is a role model for his comrades.
