Andrej Bíreš (born November 19, 1993 in Banská Bystrica ) is a German - Slovak ice hockey player who has been playing for EC Bad Nauheim since 2018 .
Career
Andrej Bíreš began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at HC 05 Banská Bystrica . There he ran for the first time in the 2008/09 season in the U18 team of the club. He achieved 32 points in 56 games. In the following year he managed to score 67 points in only 39 matches. The 2010/11 season marked his last year in the U18 team of the central Slovakian club. After 35 games he moved to the U20 team, where he was an important player for the relegation games. Furthermore, the right-shooter made his professional debut during the season when he ran up for a game at the second division club HK Brezno .
In the summer of 2011, the only 17-year-old finally moved abroad: He signed a contract with the Landshut Cannibals from the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga . This provided for a use of the Slovak in the junior team of the parent club EV Landshut , which competed in the German junior league. He should also have the opportunity to recommend himself for a few games with the professional team. Because of his good performance during the 2011/12 season , Bíreš was rarely used in the offspring.
In June 2012 he received a trial contract with the Eispiraten Crimmitschau , which was not extended. Therefore, he returned to Slovakia and went on the ice for the HK Orange 20 in the Slovak extra league . In the same year, however, he still signed a contract with the Heilbronner Falken . He then played in parallel in Germany and Slovakia .
Between 2015 and 2018 he was active for Moskitos Essen in the Oberliga Nord .
International
Andrej Bíreš took part in the 2011 U18 Junior World Championship for Slovakia , where he finished tenth and last place with his team and was relegated to Division I.
After completing the preparation as HK Orange 20 in the Extraliga with the Slovak junior national team , he was appointed to the squad for the 2013 U20 World Ice Hockey Championship . In this tournament he finished eighth with the U20 selection and scored four goals and two assists in the course of the tournament.
