Antistius
The Antistier ( Antistii , nomen gentile Antistius , feminine form of the name Antistia , as a subsidiary form also known as Antestius ) were a plebeian gene (family) of ancient Rome. The family was known both in the republic and during the imperial era and produced several important people. The first known bearer of the name, which also appeared in public life, was Tiberius (?) Antistius, who lived in 422 BC. Chr. Tribune was. Several bearers of the gentile noun held this office in the following centuries. As a family, the anti-animals have been recorded in Rome since the 2nd century BC . The representatives of the family were of particular importance in the first century before and in the first century AD, when nine representatives of the gens held the office of consul , in some cases just a suffect consul . Another two consuls are known for the 2nd century AD. Under Augustus the subsidiary branch of the Antistii Veteres was accepted under the patricians .
