Anton Delius

Anton Daniel Delius (born May 1, 1850 in Versmold ; † December 26, 1936 in Bad Oeynhausen ) was a mayor and lord mayor of the city of Siegen .

Life

Anton Delius, son of the landowner Heinrich Anton Delius in Versmold, studied law and camera science at the universities of Heidelberg , Leipzig and Berlin after graduating from high school in Bielefeld . In 1870 he became a member of the Normannia Leipzig fraternity . After the legal trainee exam in July 1872 at the Berlin Court of Appeal and the Assessor exam in February 1877, he was appointed as a court assessor from March 1877 to represent a judge's position in Witten. In August 1877 Delius was transferred to the public prosecutor's office in Hagen and from there in March 1878 was appointed district judge in Altenkirchen.

After the death of the mayor of Siegen, Lamprecht, Delius was elected mayor on December 9th, 1881 by the city council in Siegen. After confirmation of the election on March 23, 1882 and his introduction as mayor on April 5, 1882, Delius was re-elected as mayor on December 18, 1893 and November 6, 1905 after the expiry of his terms of office by the city council. Delius, who was awarded the honorary title of mayor in 1917, retired on November 1, 1919. From 1890 to 1919 he was a member of the provincial parliament of the province of Westphalia for the constituency of Siegen and the NLP .

Honor

On the occasion of the visit of the Prussian king and German emperor Wilhelm II. To Westphalia, he granted the Siegen mayor Anton Delius the personal right to wear a gold chain of office . This chain of office was mayor Delius then on 27 January 1908 for the first time in public during a hard Diners at the premises of the company rest on the occasion of the 49th birthday of William II.

In Siegen a street was named after Anton Delius.
