Anton Eichhorn (born May 9, 1809 in Pissau near Seeburg , ( Warmia ); † February 27, 1869 in Frauenburg ) was a German theologian, church historian and canon lawyer.

Life

Anton Eichhorn first attended the Progymnasium in Rößel and then the Gymnasium in Braunsberg from 1821 to 1828 . From autumn 1828 until 1831 he studied philosophy and theology at the Lyceum Hosianum in Braunsberg. After he was ordained a priest in June 1832, he became a chaplain in Elbing . In order to prepare for the teaching post, he continued his studies at the University of Berlin from autumn 1834 with the help of a state scholarship , where he studied philology and philosophy until June 1836. He completed his studies in Berlin with a doctorate. From July 1836 to April 1838 he was a religion teacher at the Braunsberg high school. He was then appointed professor of theology at the Lyceum Hosianum. He held this teaching post for six years. From 1844 he was a professor of church history and canon law. For the period 1851-1854 he was elected rector of the college. In 1851, the Pope appointed him Warmia canon ; However, he remained in his teaching post until the end of the winter semester. In March 1852 he moved to Frauenburg. In January 1862 he resigned as minister council in the Vicar General, and was from May 1865 to the took place on August 16, 1867 death of Bishop Geritz its vicar general . Eichhorn founded the Historical Association for Warmia in 1856 with the cathedral vicar Wölky , the secretary and archivist Saage as well as Franz Beckmann , Andreas Thiel (later Bishop of Warmia) and Joseph Bender , whose magazine he has since published as the association's president. In 1848 he took part in the National Assembly in Berlin as a member of the Braunsberg district . He was a knight of the Red Eagle Order 4th class.

In 1850 he was a member of the Volkshaus of the Erfurt Union Parliament .
