Anton Grünn

Anton Grünn (born June 11, 1787 in Vienna ; † December 31, 1865 there ) was an Austrian city architect.

Life

Anton Grünn was the son of the caretaker and journeyman carpenter Johann Baptist Grünn and his wife Klara, née Schulz. He married Maria Magdalena Bartl in 1813, although the marriage register states that Grünn is said to have previously worked as a bricklayer and city architect in Tyrnau - information that cannot otherwise be proven. In any case, he received the master builder license in Vienna in 1828, became a citizen of Vienna and accepted into the master builder and stonemason cooperative. Subsequently, after the death of Alois Hildwein , he continued to run a successful construction company as a widow's business for 30 years , with which he carried out designs by other architects as well as conversions of many existing buildings and also built according to his own designs.

Anton Grünn was one of the busiest builders in Vienna and its suburbs during the pre-March period . He dealt almost exclusively with the construction of rental houses, which he erected in a simple and inexpensive way as utility buildings without great artistic demands, in accordance with the dictates of the time.
