Anton Julius Busmann senior (also: Busman , Bußmann , Bußman , Busmannus ; born June 30, 1646 in Hanover ; † February 11, 1717 ibid) was a German lawyer and mayor of Hanover, who was particularly responsible for the city's school and poor system began.

Anton Julius Busmann was the son of the city physician Christian Busmann and the father of the future mayor Anton Julius Busmann junior .

Career

Anton Julius Busmann studied from 1667 jurisprudence at the University of Helmstedt , where he completed the Doctor of Laws . He also worked as a respondent at the university .

After Busmann was appointed court assessor in 1689 , he was appointed mayor of the city of Hanover in 1699 as a result of the city ​​regulations imposed by the sovereign . He held this office until his death in 1717, but alternately with the consul Johann Christoff Danhauer (until 1713) and Otto Heinrich Volger (from 1713).

Busmann's main interest was the poor and school system in the city. In 1716, towards the end of his life, he developed plans to “improve the poor condition of local schools”. But it was only under his son and later successor as mayor that the St. Spiritus Hospital and Abbey were rebuilt in 1745 with regard to poor relief .
