Anton Klaus Kathrein (born September 24, 1984 ) is a German engineer and entrepreneur.

Life

Anton Kathrein is the son of Anton Kathrein junior and the grandson of Anton Kathrein , who founded the Kathrein-Werke in 1919.

He attended the Sebastian-Finsterwalder-Gymnasium , where he passed the Abitur. He then studied at the Electrotechnical Institute of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology . After the death of his father in 2012, he took over the Kathrein-Werke based in Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria as managing and personally liable partner. In 2013 the company was inducted into the “Hall of Fame” for family businesses by the Handelsblatt .

In 2014 he laid the foundation stone for a plant in Mexico in Tlaxcala ; according to his own statement, a dream of the grandfather. A short time later he announced that he would relocate production at the Medford plant in Oregon there to save costs. Part of the planned corporate restructuring was that he should take over the office of Chairman of the Board of Directors in the new structure. In 2015, under his leadership, it was decided to close the plant in Nördlingen in April 2016 and it was also announced that series production at the company's headquarters in Rosenheim will be discontinued. In February 2015 he founded Kathrein Immobilienverwaltung GmbH, of which he is also managing director.

At the beginning of 2013 he became a member of the board of the bayme - VBM -Region Südost-Bayern. He is also on the board of the ZVEI regional office in Bavaria and the VBW . Kathrein is an honorary judge at the Labor Court in Rosenheim and Chairman of the Board of the Kathrein Cultural Foundation.

Private life

According to Forbes , Anton Kathrein was 5th among the youngest super-rich in 2015 with a fortune of $ 1.7 billion. He is married and has two children. He lives in Brannenburg in Upper Bavaria .
