The school building in 1905

The Sebastian-Finsterwalder-Gymnasium (SFG) is a secondary school in Rosenheim with currently around 990 students. Three training courses are offered, and in addition to the traditional grammar school, there is also the open all-day school and a bound all-day class in the 5th and 6th grade. The SFG is a state school named after the glaciologist Sebastian Finsterwalder . The SFG takes part in the pilot project "Partner schools for winter sports".

history

School history

The school was founded in 1865 as a drawing and trade school and on August 1, 1881, following a decree by the Bavarian King Ludwig II in Hohenschwangau, it became a royal secondary school. In 1922, the Bavarian State Parliament raised it to a secondary school . In 1925 the first Abitur examination was carried out. Since 1965 the school was called "Finsterwalder-Gymnasium". Since 1961, the modern language branch and from 1990 the business-scientific training course has also been offered. As of August 1, 2015, the school name was expanded to include the first name of the namesake and has been called "Sebastian-Finsterwalder-Gymnasium Rosenheim" since then.

Student connections

Until the time of National Socialism and the synchronization of the youth associations , there were also student connections based on academic models at the Realschule or Oberrealschule . The Realabsolvia Rosenheim , the Absolvia Oberrealschule Rosenheim and the Abituria Oberrealschule Rosenheim are three well-known associations. Due to the dissolution or its continued existence in the underground during the Third Reich, the trace is lost during this time.

In 2011, the Absolvia Rosenheim student association , representing all former Rosenheim student associations at all grammar schools in the city of Rosenheim and in the Rosenheim district, was reactivated.

Building history

The current old building was occupied in 1891. The constant growth of the royal secondary school made it necessary to expand the building as early as 1904 (today's old building or A-wing). In the summer of 1968 another three-story building was completed (today's new building or B-wing). A fourth floor and another staircase were added later. In 2009, a modern building with a cafeteria and workrooms on the upper floor was built on part of the parking lot. In 2013 a new connecting wing with an elevator was built, which now enables barrier-free access to all floors.

School life

The ratio of girls to boys is currently around 35 to 65 percent. The catchment area of the school extends well beyond the city of Rosenheim . The number of so-called "learner drivers" from the Rosenheim district is around 55 percent.

Training directions

The school currently has three courses:

  • NTG: Scientific and technological education
  • SG: Language course
  • WSG: Economics and social science education with a focus on economics
