Anton Nikolajewitsch Konovalov ( Russian Антон Николаевич Коновалов ; born January 18, 1985 in Khabarovsk ) is a former Russian ski racer . He started in all disciplines and took part in three World Championships and the 2006 Winter Olympics, but remained without results in the World and European Cups .

Career

Anton Konowalow took part in FIS races from January 2001 and reached in December of the same year as second in the slalom of Absakowo his first of a total of seven podium places. Even outside of his home country, he scored good results, including a third place in the slalom in Oberjoch in January 2004. After another top-10 results in FIS races and at the Russian Championships Konovalov of which was 2003 World Cup in St. Moritz nominated . There he started in the slalom, the giant slalom and the Super-G, but only finished 44th in the giant slalom. In his second World Cup participation in 2005 in Bormio , he contested the slalom, where he was 25th, and the giant slalom, in which he failed. At the Junior World Championships , in which he participated from 2002 to 2005, his best results were 19th place in slalom 2004 and 26th place in slalom 2005 . He achieved better results at the Universiades , in which he participated three times. While in Tarvisio in 2003 a 20th place in the giant slalom was his best result, two years later he won the bronze medal in the Super-G at the Universiade 2005 in Innsbruck and was also tenth in the downhill. He achieved another top 10 result with eighth place in the Super-G at the Universiade 2007 in Bardonecchia .

In the winter of 2003/04 Konovalov competed in his first three races in the European Cup , but was not included in any of these slaloms. Further European Cup starts did not follow for the time being, but on October 23, 2005 he started in the giant slalom in Sölden for the first and only time in a World Cup race , in which, as 58th of the first round, he missed qualification for the second run by almost four seconds. Four months after this World Cup start, he took part in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin as one of five Russian men . Konovalov achieved 29th place in the slalom - in which he was the only one in his country to be included in the rating - and 42nd place in the Super-G, but failed in the combination. In the 2006/07 season he came back to some European Cup appearances, but remained again in all races without a countable result. The 2007 World Cup in Åre was his last major event . In the qualifying races, which were held for the first time, he qualified for the main competitions in both slalom and giant slalom, in which he only finished 34th in giant slalom and was eliminated in slalom. He also took part in the Super Combined, where he finished 30th, and the Super-G, which he finished in 50th place. Konovalov contested his last FIS race in November 2007.
