Anton Weißmann

Anton Weißmann (born September 16, 1871 in Eschenbach , † December 24, 1945 in Karlsruhe ) was a German journalist and politician .

After attending elementary school in Eschenbach, Anton Weißmann did an apprenticeship as a printer . He worked as a typesetter until 1898 . After that he was editor of the "Volksblatt" in Halle an der Saale until May 1905 and then until 1911 of the "Volksfreund" in Karlsruhe, from July 1911 to April 1919 finally editor of the "Volkswacht" in Freiburg . From 1919 he worked in the press department of the Baden Ministry in Karlsruhe, from March 1920 to 1932 as a Councilor .

In 1933 Anton Weißmann was dismissed for "political unreliability". He was granted a reduced pension that was increased to the full rate over the years.

politics

In 1900 Weißmann joined the SPD . After two unsuccessful Reichstag candidacies in 1898 and 1903, he was elected to the Baden state parliament in 1918, to which he was a member until 1933. In 1919 he was a member of the Baden Constitutional Commission, in 1924 and 1925 secretary of the state parliament.
