Anton Junak ( Ukrainian Антон Юнак , English transcription Anton Yunak ; born June 3, 1985 ) is a former Ukrainian biathlete .

Anton Junak made his international debut in 2006 in Ridnaun as part of the Junior Biathlon European Cup . In the same year he took part in his first major biathlon event, the 2006 Junior Summer Biathlon World Championships in Ufa . He started both in cross-country skiing , where he narrowly missed a medal in fourth place in the sprint and sixth in the pursuit race, as well as in the races on roller skis . There he finished ninth in the sprint and came eleventh in the pursuit. With Walentyna Semerenko , Wita Semerenko and Andrij Bohaj he won the silver medal behind the Russian team in the cross-country mixed relay. The following year, the 2007 Winter Universiade in Cesana San Sicario became the major event of the year. On the 2006 Olympic course , Junak finished 17th in the individual, 27th in the sprint, and 15th in the pursuit. With Oleh Bereschnyj , Serhij Sednjew and Roman Pryma he won the silver medal in the relay race behind Belarus.

At the start of the 2008/09 season , Junak made his debut in Idre in the IBU Cup and was 27th of the sprint, which he immediately won first points. A little later he achieved his best result so far in the second highest racing series with a 17th place in a sprint in Obertilliach . In the same season , the Ukrainian competed in his first race in the biathlon world cup . He made his debut in a sprint in Ruhpolding , where he was 97th and came with the relay of Ukraine on the side of Oleksandr Bilanenko , Oleksij Korobejnikow and Oleksandr Batjuk in 15th place. In Oberhof , Junak finally started at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2009 and reached 12th place in the cross-country sprint. In the pursuit race, he dropped back to 28th place with nine shooting errors.
