Oleksiy Korobejnikow ( Ukrainian Олексій Коробейніков , scientific. Transliteration Oleksiy Korobejnikov ; Russian Алексей Витальевич Коробейников , Alexei Vitalievich Korobeinikow; * 12. May 1978 in Achinsk , Krasnoyarsk , USSR ; † 16th May 2014 ) was a Ukrainian and Russian biathlete .

Oleksij Korobejnikow started internationally first for Russia, for the first time at the Junior World Championships in 1997 in Forni Avoltri , where he won the relay, and in 1998 in Jericho . At the 1999 Winter Universiade in Poprad , he won again with the Russian relay.

In the senior division he started for Ukraine, for the first time in 2002 in a European Cup sprint (20th) in Ål . He was then used for the first time in the Biathlon World Cup at races in Pokljuka and was 41st in the sprint. At the European Championships in Forni Avoltri in 2003, he won gold in the sprint and relegated four-time world champion Uladsimer Dratschou to second place. He then finished 44th in singles at his first world championships.

At the beginning of the 2003/04 season in Kontiolahti , he ran as 24th in the pursuit for the first time in the points. He also achieved a good fifth place with the relay. At the 2004 World Championships he was only used in the relay and was seventh. The European Championships were also rather unsatisfactory for him. After a mediocre 2004/05 season without really outstanding individual results, he was able to celebrate again successes at the European Championships in Novosibirsk . With the relay he won silver and in the individual he just missed a medal in fourth. The 2005 World Championships in Hochfilzen were also quite successful. Korobejnikow was 38th in the individual, 30th in the pursuit and tenth in the relay.

After a bad start in the 2005/06 season (94th place in the sprint of Östersund ) he was initially sent back to the European Cup. But after he immediately won the first race there in Obertilliach , he finally returned to the World Cup. Ultimately, this season was also mixed, but the highlight was the Olympic Games in Turin . Here Korobejnikow appeared in the individual (54th) and in the relay (7th). His best season was 2006/07. During the season he was able to improve steadily and finally to be in particularly good shape for the Biathlon World Championships 2007 in Antholz . In the singles he was 16th, with the mixed relay tenth.

Korobejnikow also competed in the summer biathlon . In 2003 he was relay world champion in Forni Avoltri.

After completing the 2008/09 season, he returned to Russia. In the Russian Cup (Kubok Rossii) of the 2009/10 season he started for the selection of the Krasnoyarsk region. After the end of the season, he ended his active career.

From 2010 Korobejnikow worked as a coach in his hometown of Achinsk. He died there in May 2014 as a result of a car accident that he had suffered two months earlier.
