Anton Ziegler (theologian)

Anton Ziegler (born December 2, 1702 in Kirchheim in Swabia , † November 6, 1774 in Hall in Tirol ) was a Catholic theologian and Jesuit .

Life

He entered the Jesuit order on September 13, 1720. He completed his novitiate in Landsberg am Lech . He then studied philosophy and theology in Ingolstadt (until 1733). On May 30, 1733 he received in Eichstaett the priesthood . From 1733 to 1734 he completed his tertiary year in Altötting . He then taught philosophy at the University of Innsbruck (1735–1737), at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau (1737–1739) and at the University of Dillingen (1739–1741). In the years 1741–1742 he was professor of controversy in Augsburg and from 1742–1744 professor of casuistry in Regensburg , where he also served as prefect of studies. From 1744 to 1746 he taught as a professor of theology at the University of Dillingen and 1746–1753 at the University of Ingolstadt. 1753–1754 he worked as a church prefect in Neuburg. In the following years he served as rector in Innsbruck , Freiburg im Breisgau , Regensburg, Konstanz and Hall.
