Antonina Setowa ( Bulgarian Антонина Зетова ; born September 7, 1973 in Pleven ) is a former Bulgarian volleyball player .

biography

She played for CSKA Sofia until 1995 . Then she moved to Turkey, where she was under contract for two years at Eczacıbaşı Istanbul and one year at Vakifbank Ankara . In 1998 she went to Modena in Italy . In 2000 the club became Italian champions, with Setowa being the best scorer in the Italian league. 2000/01 Setowa was with Foppapedretti Bergamo and was the best scorer in the Italian league for the second time and then returned to Modena, with which she won the 2001/02 CEV Cup .

She then played one season for Eczacıbaşı Istanbul before coming back to Italy. With Chieri she won the Top Teams Cup 2004/05. Then she moved to Perugia . The club won the Champions League in 2006 . In 2007/08 she was suspended because of the birth of her son. In 2008 she went to the Spanish club Palma Volley and in 2009 to Greece to Olympiacos Piraeus . She then moved again to Italy to Perugia and Chieri, before ending her career in 2012.

Setowa also played in the Bulgarian national team for many years . At the European Championships in 1997 , she was tested positive in a doping control and banned for a month. At the 2001 European Championships in her native Bulgaria, she won the bronze medal as the best scorer of the tournament with the national team. In the 2010 European Volleyball League she was second with Bulgaria.
