Antonio Serrano (* 1974 in Madrid ) is a Spanish harmonica player who works across genres, from classical to jazz , blues and tango to flamenco .

Live and act

Serrano received his first harmonica lessons from his father at the age of 7. Larry Adler , who also became his mentor, later taught him the chromatic harmonica. When he was 13 he gave a duo concert with Larry Adler in Paris. In 1992 he performed the Harmonica Concerto that Malcolm Arnold had composed for Adler; in the Eurovision music competition he took second place.

Beyond the classical context, Serrano appeared with numerous blues, jazz and pop artists from Spain and became one of the well-known instrumental virtuosos in his home country. With Paco de Lucia he played Flamenco nuevo ; he was the first musician to introduce the chromatic harmonica into flamenco music.

Serrano has published his own records since 1991. He also played with Wynton Marsalis , Lou Bennett Perico Sambeat , Chano Domínguez , Carles Benavent , Tino di Geraldo , Paquito D'Rivera , Ivan Lins and Rosa Passos . He has also performed with the symphony orchestras from Venezuela and Belgium, Cologne, Heidelberg and Kiel, as well as the Turkish radio.

As a studio musician , he continued to record film scores for Pedro Almodovar .
