The Apostolic Vicariate Donkorkrom was founded on December 12, 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. established from the cession of territory by the diocese of Koforidua as the Apostolic Prefecture of Donkorkrom . On January 19, 2010, the Apostolic Prefecture Donkorkrom was by Benedict XVI. raised to the apostolic vicariate.
