Apucarana , officially Portuguese Município de Apucarana , is a city in the Brazilian state of Paraná . In the 2010 census year it had 120,919 inhabitants, who were estimated to be 134,996 as of July 1, 2019 and live on a community area of ​​around 558.4 km². The calculated population density is 216 people per km², but over 94% of the Apucaranese population is concentrated in the urban area. It ranks 11th out of 399 municipalities in the state.

The executive rests with the city prefect (mayor). In the local elections in 2016 , Carlos Alberto Gebrim Preto of the Partido Social Democrático (PSD) was elected city prefect for the term from 2017 to 2020.

Apucarana is home to the Roma Esporte Apucarana and Apucarana Atlético Clube football clubs , and it also owns the Estádio Municipal Olímpio Barreto, which opened in 1967 .
