history

During the tenure of President Nilo Peçanha (1909-1910) a technical school ( Escolas de Aprendizes Artífices ) was set up in many Brazilian states . The seat of the Escola de Aprendizes Artífices, founded in 1909 and opened in 1910, for the state of Paraná became its capital, Curitiba. Over the decades, the technical school was gradually expanded and finally upgraded to a technical college. Accordingly, their name changed several times:

  • Liceu Industrial do Paraná (1937)
  • Escola Técnica de Curitiba (1942)
  • Escola Técnica Federal do Paraná (1959)
  • Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica do Paraná (1978)

On October 7, 2005, university status was granted.
