The Catholic University of Santos , pt: Universidade Católica de Santos , abbreviation UNISANTOS is a Catholic university located in Santos , Baixada Santista in the state of São Paulo.
The forerunner of the university is the Sociedade Visconde de São Leopoldo, founded in 1952 . In 1986 the name was changed to Universidade Católica de Santos and state recognition. With around 36,000 students, UNISANTOS is one of the largest universities in Brazil.
There are over 100 universities recognized by the Ministry of Education in Santos.
