The village of Aqmol ( Kazakh Ақмол ; Russian Акмол Akmol ) is the administrative center of the Zelinograd district in the Aqmola region . It is located in northern Kazakhstan 17 km from the capital Nur-Sultan .

First set up as a camp for political prisoners, this "twenty-sixth point", as the camp was officially called from 1938, was part of the Gulag camp system until 1953 . After that the place was called Malinowka until 2007 . Today in Aqmol there is a monument in memory of the victims of political repression and totalitarianism.

The monument commemorating the victims of political repression and totalitarianism is located in the north-west of Akmol. The area of ​​the monument is divided into four sections:

In the center of Aqmol there is a square that commemorates the soldiers who died in World War II .

economy

The only large company in town produces poultry products and has around 500 employees.
