Derschavinsk ( Kazakh and Russian Державинск ) is a city in Kazakhstan .

Geographical location

The city is located on the banks of the Ishim in central northern Kazakhstan. It is the center of the Sharqajyng district in the Aqmola region .

history

In 1966 Derschavinsk was granted city rights. From 1966 to 1996 the 38th Missile Division of the Strategic Missile Forces of the Soviet Union with 52 silos for the ballistic ICBM R-36M was stationed there, which meant that Derschavinsk was not recorded on Soviet maps.
