development

The SSD I was designed by Walter Rethel in 1929 and was one of the first two seaplanes developed by Arado with the Arado W II sea training aircraft . The construction of the SSD I turned out to be inferior to the competitor model Heinkel HD 38 and so there was only one machine produced. The single piece with central float was manufactured in a mixed construction and received the registration number D-1905 . It was mainly used for catapult launch attempts. In 1933 it broke when it landed on the Breitling .
