Arba Kokalari

Arba Kokalari (born November 27, 1986 in Stockholm , Sweden or Tirana , Albania ) is a Swedish politician of the Moderata samlingspartiet , the Moderate gathering party . Since July 2, 2019 she has been a member of the European Parliament of the European People's Party (EPP) in the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) .

Life

Arba Kokalari was born as the granddaughter of the Albanian writer Musine Kokalari and grew up in Albania . After the fall of communism , she moved to Sweden with her family at the age of six. At Stockholm University she studied 2006-2013 Political Science specializing in European policy , the study she graduated as a Bachelor of Science from. She also attended Försvarshögskolan , the Swedish national defense college , from 2009 to 2012 .

From 2008 to 2012 she worked in the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs , from 2012 to 2015 she was project manager at the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation and from 2015 to 2017 at the mobile phone company 3 Sweden . From 2017 to June 2019 she was press officer at the Swedish household appliance manufacturer Electrolux .

politics

Kokalari has been involved in the Moderate Collection Party since 2003 . In 2006 she was elected a substitute member of the Stockholms län landsting , the provincial parliament for the province of Stockholm, where she was responsible for the cultural agendas from 2010 to 2014 as an elected member for the collection party. From 2012 to 2014 she was International Secretary of the Moderata Ungdomsförbundet (MUF), the youth organization of the gathering party, and from 2015 to 2018 she was one of the vice-presidents of the Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP). In 2014, she ran for the rallying party in the European elections and the Swedish parliament .

In the European elections in Sweden in 2019 , the rallying party won four seats in the EU Parliament , Arba Kokalari received 10,284 votes. In the 9th electoral term of the European Parliament starting July 2, 2019, Kokalari is a full member of the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) as well as a deputy member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defense Policy (AFET) for the European People's Party (EPP) in the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) .
