Arbuthnott ( Gaelic : Obar Bhuadhnait ) is a Scottish village in the Council Area Aberdeenshire . It is located in the Kincardine and Mearns region of the traditional county of Kincardineshire about ten kilometers southwest of Stonehaven and 14 km northeast of Montrose . On the southern edge, the Bervie Water passes Arbuthnott, which flows three kilometers southeast in Inverbervie into the North Sea.

history

The oldest fragments of the Parish Church of Arbuthnott date from the 13th century. The later expanded building is now classified as a monument of the highest Scottish monument category A. The clergyman James Sibbald wrote the missal Missal of Arbuthnott there . On the western edge of the village is the Grade I listed manor Arbuthnott House . There is a museum in Arbuthnott that deals with the life of the regional writer Lewis Grassic Gibbon ( James Leslie Mitchell ).

The B967 runs through Arbuthnott. It connects the town to the four kilometers to the west and east of the A90 ( Dundee - Fraserburgh ) and A92 ( Dunfermline - Stonehaven).
