Ariane Ascaride
Ariane Ascaride (born October 10, 1954 in Marseille ) is a French actress .
Life
Ascaride was born in Marseille. Her brothers are the set designer Pierre Ascaride and the writer Gilles Ascaride. She studied sociology at the university in Aix-en-Provence , where she met Robert Guédiguian . She became his wife and muse.
Ascaride attended the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris , which she graduated in 1979. In the 1970s she made her theater debut in a play by her brother. The first small film appearances followed, including a supporting role in René Féret's La communion solennelle in 1977 . From the 1980s, she appeared in films by her husband Guédiguian. To date, she has played a role in each of his films. Ascaride had her big break in 1998 in Guédiguian's film Marius and Jeannette - A Love in Marseille , for which she was awarded the César for Best Actress .
She has now also been seen in films by other directors, such as Éléonore Faucher's Die Perlenstickerinnen (2004) and the film adaptation The Elegance of Madame Michel (2009) by Mona Achache , which is based on the novel The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery . For Guédiguian's Le voyage en Arménie (2006), in which she appeared, she wrote the script for the first time.
In 2006, Ascaride was a member of the jury of the Premiers plans film festival in Angers .
