Ariel Rubinstein (Hebrew אריאל רובינשטיין; Born April 13, 1951 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli economist . His focus is on game theory , to which he contributed, for example, with the Rubinstein negotiation model (1982).

Life

From 1969 to 1971 Rubinstein completed his military service . He then studied mathematics and economics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem until 1979 . He received a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1974 and a master's degree in 1976, and a master's degree in economics in 1975. With his work on Selected problems in legal policy- a formal economic approach he received a Ph.D. He was then to 1980 research fellow ( research fellow ) at Nuffield College to 1981 in 1980 in Oxford and Bell Laboratories active in Murray Hill. In October 1981 he returned to the Department of Economics at the University of Jerusalem as a lecturer. Here he became associate professor in October 1984 and full professor two years later . Ariel Rubinstein has been a professor at Tel Aviv University since April 1990 (as of 2009). In addition to his obligations in Tel Aviv, he was professor at Princeton University from 1991 to 2004 and at New York University from 2004 .

As a hobby, Ariel Rubinstein collects photos of cafes he has visited.
