The Band of the Life Guards on foot ( Armen Musikkår ) is the wind music corps of the Swedish army in the capital Stockholm .

It is used together with the body battalion of the bodyguard for protocol honorary service on foot. These include the state ceremonial of the king, the government, the Reichstag and the generals as well as parades at the changing of the guard . Concerts with the large symphonic wind orchestra and with smaller chamber music ensembles are also part of the field of activity. There are 60 military musicians serving in the Army Music Corps , who, like the body battalion, are equipped with the m / 1886 parade uniforms of the life guards . The command command for the military music service of the Swedish Wehrmacht is the Military Music Staff Försvarsmusiken (FöMus).

history

Today's Army Music Corps of the Life Guard was set up as an Army Music Train in Strängnäs in 1982 and relocated to Stockholm in 2006. On January 1, 2010, the name was changed to " Heeresmusikkorps der Leibgarde ". The old music corps of the life guards was set up by King Gustav I. Wasa in Stockholm in 1536 by recruiting "Jacob Trommler" and "Feilinz Pfeifer". It was involved with the life guards in the Swedish campaigns until 1815. The music corps of the life guards was merged in 1957 with all professional music corps of the army , navy and air forces for military music under a department head and inspector of military music. The 25 music corps of military music were transferred to "regional music" outside the armed forces in 1971 and dissolved in 1988.

The Army Music Corps has a permanent place in the musical life of Stockholm with around 240 performances each year, including regular concerts in the Berwaldhalle and the Konserthuset . In 2013 the Army Music Corps of the Life Guard was used for musical purposes in Afghanistan and in 2014 in Kosovo .
