The Sadko NEXT ( Russian Садко NEXT) is a truck made by the Russian vehicle manufacturer Gorkowski Avtomobilny Sawod . The model was introduced in 2014 and replaces the older GAZ-3308 . Series production was announced for mid-2015 and again in 2018, but in fact it did not begin gradually until April 2019. Under the name GAZon NEXT , a variant of the vehicle without all-wheel drive has existed for a long time , accordingly this is the successor to the GAZ-3307 .

As early as 2014, the Gorkowski Awtomobilny Sawod presented a replacement for the trucks with a total weight of around seven tons, some of which have been produced for 25 years. While the model without all-wheel drive, the GAZon NEXT, went into series production in the third quarter of 2014, this was not the case with the Sadko NEXT. Instead, the old models were equipped with new engines.

Later in 2014, the start of series production for summer 2015 was announced, and technical data was also announced. At that time it was planned to manufacture different variants of the truck. Two chassis of different lengths were to be built, a model variant with 3.77 meters wheelbase (referred to as GAZ-C41A23) and an extended version with 4.51 meters (GAZ-C42F43). Vehicles with a double cab should also be offered, similar to the GAZon NEXT.

Another public presentation took place in September 2018 at the International Motor Show . Since then, the model has also been presented at military trade fairs around the world, for example at the Indo Defense in Jakarta , Indonesia in November 2018 . The vehicle cannot be marketed in the European Union or North America because it is equipped with diesel engines that only comply with the Euro III , Euro IV or Euro V emission standards . As of January 2019, the manufacturer has not yet officially marketed the new vehicle.

GAZ began series production in April 2019. Initially, only right-hand drive vehicles were built for export. The vehicles were only sold in Russia in September. There are now more than 150 different variants on offer, including variants with a longer wheelbase or double cab.
