Armando Broja (born September 10, 2001 in Slough ) is an Albanian football player born and raised in England who is under contract with Vitesse Arnhem as a loan player from Chelsea FC . The striker has been an Albanian U21 international since June 2019 .

Career

Armando Broja was born to Albanian parents in Slough , a city west of London , England. In turn, his parents are originally from Malësia e Madhe . He started playing football at an early age and gained his first experience in club sports with the Burnham Juniors. A year later, he was already present at trial training sessions for the larger clubs FC Fulham and Reading FC and, after a successful junior tournament with Burnham, moved to the youth department of Tottenham Hotspur , where he started in the U8 team. He played for Spurs for two years and was then brought to Chelsea's youth academy, where he made his way through the Blues junior selection. In March 2018 he played for the U18 team for the first time and in the following season 2018/19 he played 21 league games and scored two goals. In the next season he scored nine goals in his first nine appearances in the U18 and was then promoted to the reserve team. There he established himself as a regular player and on February 26, 2020 he signed his first professional contract with the West Londoners. On March 8, 2020 (29th matchday), he made his Premier League debut in a 4-0 home win against Everton , when he came on for Olivier Giroud in the 86th minute .

On August 21, 2020 Broja switched to partner club Vitesse Arnheim in the Dutch Eredivisie on loan for the entire 2020/21 season .

National team

Armando Broja is eligible to play for both the Albanian national team and the English national team.

On May 28, 2019, he made his debut for the Albanian U19 national team in a 3-1 friendly win against Kosovo and scored for the first time in this game. At the same time, he has been the Albanian U21 international since June 2019 .
